Online and Bricks and Mortar Small Businesses

In my business, I work with a number of small businesses, and many of them are brick and mortar stores or service businesses, but they are trying to grow, or reach out to a new audience.

1. Make sure you're listed with GoogleMaps and Yahoo Local.
Many may be spending a small fortune to be in two or more yellow page directories but not a single one of them has know to check their listing in Yahoo local or Google maps. This is true whether they have a strong website or not. (every business has at least had a "brochure" site. Often suboptimized and out of date.
